Victoria announced a $305 million redevelopment of Dandenong Hospital adding nine operating theatres, a new 16 bed intensive care unit and upgraded day surgery admissions, delivered live with the hospital remaining operational throughout. It sits inside a $370 million package also covering West Gippsland and Wonthaggi hospitals, and at announcement stage it is pre tender with staged brownfield methodology likely to drive the procurement.
Breakthrough Victoria Platform program and the Jumar Bioincubator precedent: state money going directly into PC2 laboratory infrastructure. Lab and research in VIC, $12m package, about 18 months out. Breakthrough Victoria's Platform stream explicitly invests in technology facilities, research platforms and research infrastructure rather than only equity, and its flagship example is the Jumar Bioincubator, a $30 million build of 25 self contained PC2 laboratories of 24 to 90 square metres across two floors of CSL's Melbourne Biomedical Precinct headquarters, seeded with $25 million from Breakthrough Victoria. This is the exact asset class and exact contract size Struxture wants, and the Platform mandate means more of these facility investments are the intended output rather than a one off.
